There once was a 93 girls team named Spirit,
Each year with D1 they could get just near it
Then in the Spring of 2010
they won again and again
So now this D1 thing is here...so go Spirit!!

The 93 Red team traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida over the Christmas break to play in the Orange Classic College Showcase Tournament.
The games started off on a high note with a 2 - 0 win over the Ohio Kings. Marissa scored the first goal with Lauren following up with a goal of her own. Way to go girls.
The second game against the Naples Sharks started off just as well with Hannah getting an early goal. The girls from Naples answered with a goal of their own. Things turned sour when Megan collided with a girl from the other team while saving a goal and took a cleat to the head. Megan had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter. The girls rallied but just couldn't shake the image of Megan and ended up losing the game 6 - 3.
The third and final preliminary game was against the Sonesoccer Training Academy from New Jersey. The first half was scoreless with the girls giving their all. About midway through the second half we ended up with a PK. Erin S. took the kick and it was a beauty. Way to go Erin. The game ended with a win 1 - 0.
The girls made it to the semi-final after the last win. The game against the New England Eagles from Massachusetts began with a goal for Kristen and then another goal for Kristen. Way to go girl!! The keeper for the Eagles made some great saves and Amanda did a great job in goal to prevent any scores. Onward to the finals....
The Championship game was against the Jacksonville Youth Fury. The girls brought their A game and played outstanding. The game ended 4 - 0 for Spirit with scores by Kristen (2) Hannah (1) and Julianne (1).
Way to go girls for making this tournament such a success and making Quen so proud........

(As reported on Home Page of Texas Spirit Soccer Club Website). Texas Spirit '93 Red (U15) is enjoying their 2nd-year-in-a-row Championship of the Shawnee Trail Shootout. Playing "up" in a higher age bracket, the '93 Red team faced stiff competition in the U16 division, in the tournament held May 16th thru 18th. The girls tied their first game with ASG 92 Gold Central, fell just short of a great comeback in a 3-4 game against DFW Tornados 92 Blue, and beat Liverpool FC America 92 to advance to the Finals in a rematch with ASG 92 Gold Central. The Finals Game was an evenly matched battle for 70 minutes before the girls scored on a corner kick and went on to win 1-0! Viva La Trois in 2009!! Congratulations '93 Red - great job!
