Needing a win to lock up second place in Division 2 and a bye in Division 1 for next year, the girls played one of the most dramatic games of their young careers. The team found themselves down 1 - 0 at half, rallied in the second half off of two goals by Alexia Hix to take the lead. The DFW Tornadoes kept the pressure on and with 5 minutes left scored off a cross to tie the game and seemingly dash the hopes for a win. But with time running out and virtually the last play of the game a foul in the midfield gave Texas Spirit North a last chance. From 40 yards out Isabella Bevolo took the free kick and put it upper 90 off the inside of the post for the game winning goal. The ref blew the whistle after the kickoff and the celebration started!
The good news does not stop there. We found out 2 hours later that the first place team lost and we not only were promoting to Division 1, we were the the Division 2 champions!
Congratulations to Coach Peter, and the Texas Spirit North 96 Red girls!

Orange blossoms to Texas Spirit 93 Red for winning the Orange Classic International Girls Soccer Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on December 30, 2008. The 98 North squad also qualified for Lake Highlands after the first weekend making the gold bracket. The second weekend they finished with one win and two losses, good enough for a thrid place finish and a spot into Division II.

The Signing Party was lots of fun, giving the new players to the club a chance to feel like part of the Spirit family. The dunking booth was packed as the girls lined up to dunk their coach. The hardest shot contest was also a hit, winners are posted here.
